5 free colouring sheets for EYFS and KS1 children.

Based on the National Lego Building Day in January, here are 5 different colour designs of borders with a building brick theme. Useful for displays, drawing, designing, writing or adding pictures of childrens work.

Here is a collection of 10 colouring sheets where children can also read and trace over the writing. Page 1 shows 12 pictures. Children can mark off the ones as they colour them in and then discover the missing 2 (the ball and the flowers), promoting observation skills.

5 animals have got mixed up. Some have got spots or stripes that they should not have and others have strange colours. Can children identify what animals they should be and the patterns they usually have? Children can colour the new mixed up animals and give them names.

4 designs of Christmas gift boxes for children to cut out and assemble. They also make lovely tree decorations. Just add string. Print onto thin card or paste onto thin card for best results. Cut off any tabs that the children may not need. Add a chocolate and some tissue and the children have a little gift to take home.

32 colour cards the children can use to play a mime game. A child / pair or group can choose a card and mime for the rest of the class to guess. Points or stars can be allocated for correct answers. Play against the clock for more fun. Encourages speaking and listening, drama, using imagination and working in groups.

4 colouring sheets for children to enjoy at Christmas with a 3 Bears theme. Each sheet has a sentence for children to trace over and / or write underneath. Extend the activity by encouraging the children to make up their own stories about the 3 Bears and Christmas.

18 design ideas to stimulate children’s imagination for making their own designs. There is a blank template included with 6 sweaters / jumpers in black and white. For matching games, duplicate the cards, cut and laminate and children can find ones the same. Alternately, children can colour in the jumpers before photocopying and making into matching cards. Encourages close observation and speaking and listening.

Children will enjoy drawing these characters and naming them. Each picture has a letter next to it and children write the words in the grid. Page 1 is for children to make up names beginning with the associated letter. Pages 2 and 3 show pictures with their corresponding initial letter next to them.

This is a good activity linked to Ourselves and Homes and encourages memory and speaking and listening. Children can reflect on their own bedrooms, their colour scheme and what is in their bedrooms / what they would like. There are 10 sheets here to carefully observe and discuss. Sheet 1 is a black and white basic room and each sheet after that adds something such as colour, decorations, pictures, slippers etc. Finally sheet 10 is the finished bedroom. A good activity is to go from sheet 10 backwards and see if children can spot what has been taken away. Children can use the black and white picture to build up / make a bedroom of their own. They can use fabrics, collage materials or paints/felts to decorate the room. Children could go on to write about Laura, whose bedroom this is, what can they tell about Laura just from observation?

Here is a creative activity that children can do with paper or collage to make a Christmas wreath. If you can get hold of the real materials even better. Sheet 1 and 2 - images to cut out of poinsettia, cones, berries and holly. Sheet 3 -2 wreath outlines to cut out. This makes for a lovely sensory experience too - add cinnamon sticks or dried oranges if you have them.
